Somer studied journalism and public relations at Ege University School of Communication (then Vocational School of Press) between 1984-1988. Between 1988-1992, he studied acting at the Theater Department, Institute of Fine Arts, Dokuz Eylül University.
Starting in his university years, he worked as an actor and director in many theaters. He participated in national and international festivals.
He started his silver screen adventure with children’s programs on TRT İzmir Television in 1990 and continued on with various TV programs and series. He appeared in commercials & movies, and also worked as a voice actor.
He worked as a screenwriter, actor and director in promotional and educational films for companies and institutions.
In addition to his professional acting and directing career, he currently delivers private drama training to organizations and mentors the performances of theater clubs as a continuation of this process.
Since 2013, he has been a member of the ERA team, taking part in drama applied training and workshops. He is actively involved in especially the creative and fun aspects of the design and implementation of FunPratik® and drama applied training programs and workshops.
Somer is married and has two children. He plays chess, tennis, football and likes particular poems of some poets.
